BS 1088 Marine Plywood has become a world-wide recognised standard for high quality plywood. Whilst BS stands for British Standard, the plywood can be produced anywhere in the world, but it must be produced to the standard.
Manufactured from hardwood veneers that are resistant to fungal attack, it is produced in a multi-ply construction where all the veneers are of the same thickness. Most common veneer thickness is 1.5mm.
BS 1088 Marine Plywood is produced with a Weather Boil Proof (WBP) glue-line which means the glue-bond has to withstand a 72 hot water boil test.
Marine plywood is used in the small boat hobby market as well as architectural joinery and fit-out.
Face Veneers: Solid surface that is free from open defects
Core Veneers:In essence the same as faces but can contain minor splits. Core voids are not allowed.
